reverse only on level or downhill surface
This 2004 Neon SXT has got me baffled. We were given the car that had only low gear and a check engine light with so many codes that I couldn't get an auto parts store to print me a readout. With the help of this forum, the factory manuals and hours of searching I have no check engine light and a partially working reverse. After both speed sensors, shift solenoid, and a used wiring harness the transmission shifts going forward but reverse is not right yet. After all the previous work it does move when put into gear when you are on the flat or backing downhill. I bel only has the high reverse circuit. I am looking for any ideas on how to fix this issue in the car. Thanks in advance for any advise that might show up has I have no found any answers so far in my research.
Welcome to the 2nd gen Neon forum.
I see you don't have any replies yet, so I'll see if I can get things started.
Make sure the tranny fluid is at the proper level.
Borrow, use, or come by the inexpensive but powerful ELM scan tool & running a good diagnostic software on the viewing device of your choice, have it scan the tranny computer/controller for trouble code clues & post All code Numbers, as they can help focus a trouble shoot.
The ELM can monitor live sensor PID's so whatever PID's the vehicle computer has available, the software can have the ELM put up the data on the dashboard of live sensor feeds you choose to monitor. Any tranny trouble codes the ELM finds that sound like they would cover the problem your having, would be chosen to be displayed & monitored on the dash board.
The TCCA forum says Amazon vendor BAFX is a reliable ELM vendor & will back up their product if you have problems.
Post up All trouble code clues you currently have & maybe post any tranny trouble codes you had.
Some beginning thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find..
