04 dodge neon sxt, moter is ticking/ scraping around the battery. I just replaced both belts and remounted the alternator... which some how had one one bolt to mount the tensioner, which was lose... maybe cause of problem, not sure. But it's fixed now and mounted study. Gave engine a treatment and fresh oil change/oil treatment concentrate. High miles on the car 245,xxx , second owner recently bought not sure how well it was maintained before me. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated

 

Find out what is causing the noise for starters. You have the vehicle with you., Open the hood and look around. A mechanics stethoscope is helpful in isolating sounds.

 

I agree you're going to have to do a little digging around to try and somewhat find where the noise is coming from. I cannot begin to gues what it might be.
