I have a 2005 dodge neon with 145 000 km. For about 4 years my car has done this problem off and on. The first time it happened I was on the highway doing 100 km. I was using cruse control and it was kicked out and wouldn' come back on. It will use Cruz now unless this problem is happing.

So over the 4 years it won' go over 2000rpm somethine without spurting. Today It started fine but 3 minutes from home it started to act up again.

when it first happen the car probably had 80,000 km. The check engine light has been on for years now. It' a sense error that comes up. I can't remember what it is exactly and I don' have the tools to get the code myself.

 

Need to know the code in order to properly troubleshoot the vehicle. Otherwise, you will be throwing parts at it hoping for a fix. Any auto parts store will read the codes for you. Or you can purchase your own code reader for less than $20 these days. Best tool you can have.

 

Sit in car with doors closed. Turn ignition key on but don't start car. Do this 3 times and on the 3rd time your dash will give you the codes your car is seeking.
