I replaced the crankshaft position sensor about 2 months ago. Had no issues today it died and will not start says p0335 i checked wires to the sensor everything looks good. Sensor is not lose screws are tight. what else would cuase this code?

I see you have 79 reads but no replies, so I'll see if I can get things started by taking a wag at the situation.

The replacement cam sensor wouldn't happen to be a Dorman would it????
Have you performed a continuity & thump test on the sensor????

If that checks out ok, maybe give the wiring run & electrical connector to the cam sensor a wiggle test to see if things wake up. Maybe perform a end it end continuity check on the wire run & inspect the pins / sockets for corrosion, or bent pins, spread sockets that could cause a intermittent problem. Did the latest problem come about suddenly after some event???

I checked the wires to the crank sensor need to do a volt meter test but i think the sensor my be a doremen cant remember but it was a super cheap one from rock auto i have been wondering if the ccam sensor could cause it also. I cleared the code it started up drove about a mile or 2 up the road no issues

 

A Ford Ranger forum I post on has had so many problems with Dorman cam sensors for the 3.0L Vulcan engine that its not recommended to use Dorman, instead they recommend BWD or OEM Motorcraft for that engine, so if you think your cam sensor is a Dorman I'd not take it off the suspect list. If you decide to replace it again, I'd opt for a Mopar part, or if your considering aftermarket then maybe a BWD, as they do make OEM parts, so their quality seems to be on par with OEM.

Be sure to perform a continuity / thump test on the sensor & a wiring & electrical connector pin / socket inspection & wiring, connector & sensor wiggle test & let us know how it goes.

 

well it turned out to be the crankshaft sensor got a new one have not had any issues. till the head gasket blew. so now i have that replaced along with oil water pump and the head completly reworked going to turbo it hear real soon . i will upload some pics of the work .

 

Ok, good feedback on replacing the new (Oct 2019) crank sensor, has put things right & your on the road again.
Might be helpful to know if you determined for sure the then new (2019) crank sensor, was a Dorman & did you opt for a replacement Mopar, BWD, or another Dorman ???
