how much does it cost to put a new 4 speed transmission into a 2001 neon? and is it possible? my neon is an automatic. dont like having 3 gears and running at 3k rpms on the freeway.

 

You would need a complete wiring harness and computer out of one of the newer ones.

Funny thing is we help people put the 3 speeds in to get rid of the 4 speeds for performance.

with a three gear transmission they are generally spread out farther apart, so your acceleration wouldnt be as good per gear ratio. in a four gear automatic transmission the gears are closer together so when it shifts you are at a higher rpm. that is generally why a 5 speed manual transmission will win in a race against a three speed automatic, stock anyways. what year and model neon do you have? tell us a little about it. is it stock? is it an es rt srt4?
