DRB III scantool
I am new to the forum and I am changing the timing belt on a 2001 Neon.
The Alldata procedeure says to use the DRB III scantool to relearn the cam/crank timing after installing the new belt.
Is this step necessary? Because I do not have access to the expensive factory scan tool.
Thank you for your help

Welcome to the 2nd Gen Neon forum.
I see you still don't have any replies so will see if I can get things started. The 00-01 Neon crank & cam shaft sensors are indexed / fixed / not adjustable so the engine computer gets & learns their rotary location from machined timing notches in the crankshaft & locating pins for the cam sensor magnet trigger. So if you got the crank & cam timing marks aligned on the old timing belt before removing it & got the new belt on without moving anything so the crank & cam timing marks still line up on the belt end & the timing belt tension is right, the computer will re-determine crank & cam timing.
