IAT Sensor?
well a friend of mine has a 2005 neon and he just got some chip for it off ebay, the direction for it says the it need to be connected to a IAT Sensor but we have no clue what a IAT sensor is, im hope someone here can help us out
The IAT stands for "Intake Air Temperature". The sensor is combines with the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and is located on the intake manifold. Whcih wires are which I couldn't tell ya though... Haynes manuals are good for that sort of thing. You could save your friend a lot of trouble by just losing the chip... it really isn't going to do anything...
Best of luck!
Best of luck!
Ill asume you have a VDUB Volkswagon...the Greed speed chips by neuspeed work with your ECUs programming...so not all chips are bad...they just have yet to work well w/ neons nor would I think so w/ any similar Dodge related...other then joint VW and Dodge products.
the IAT sensor is plugged into the elbow that connects the air box to the place in the fender where it sucks air from on the side that faces the back of the car. instead of putting in a chip you can sort of do the same thing without installing an actual chip. the chip itself will just fool the IAT sensor into thinking that all of the air coming into the car is really cold so it will open the injectors up wide. what i did was i moved that sensor to my grill so that all of the air hitting my car would cool the sensor and it would do the same thing. the only problem is the wire is too short so u can just splice it and make it longer but thatz a lot better than putting in a chip cuz that will destoy the engine
