Fixed my neon.
I own a shop and my neon would stall every once in awhile. I did a lot of part swaps. Never fixed it. I was guessing because it would die and would start back up once towed back to shop. I finally stumbled upon problem. There is an engine wiring block under hood near brake booster. I separated it and had a corroded wire I just did a jump around the bull head plug never had another issue.
I had the same problem with the bulkhead connector in my '88 Chevy van. Was a former GTE fleet vehicle before I bought it in 1994 so assumed it was their mechanics that sprayed some red foam sealant over the top and sides. It began having weird electrical problems in 1998 so separated the connector to find a slew of corroded and burnt connectors plus had been packed full of brown Permatex. Dug that out to get a better look at the male and female connectors then went to Radio Shack to check their selection. I didn't care to pay $1100 for a new bulkhead connector (included the engine compartment wiring harness and the fuse box with the interior wiring harness). plus the wrecking yards didn't have any. Spent $20 on two packs of m/f connectors that I figured would work once filed down along with a can of their brand De-oxit contact cleaner. I replaced 8 female connectors in the engine bay connector and cleaned up the males since those still had plenty of surface to make a connection. Everything worked once put back together so I sprayed WD-40 over it and the sides to keep moisture out. Haven't had anymore problems with that since then.
