I thought they already came with 2.25 piping, but anyway, you probably only have 2-5hp since i doubt the muffler did anything, and a CAI only gets 2-5hp if your lucky.

I read that the 2000-up Neons have a 2" exhaust.

spikeymikey87: You probably have barely over 5 horsepower with those mods.

Honestly you probally gained 5 Hp with those mods. The main reasons to intake and exhuast is to make some "breathing room" for future mods.

I was under the impression that all neons from 2001 and up had 2.25" piping, no matter what trim level it was, but i've been known to be wrong before. lol.
But what I've come to learn is 2.25" is the "optimal" size for a N/A lightly modded Neon, 2 1/2" is pushing it, and well, past that your just doing more harm than good with N/A.

The ACR's and RT's already have 2.25 exhaust system. The factory reduced exhaust pipe diameter from 2.25 inches on 95-99 cars to 2.0 inches on 2000-up basic Neon models. This change was made in an effort to make the current Neon appear more mature than the previous generation (it made it quieter).

A 2.5 inch exhaust system is better if you're really serious about power.

My info is from a Performance guide from Anthony Thomas.

I have a Base 02 Neon and I too was under the impression that it came with 2" pipe, but when I had my exhaust done a couple of weeks ago they cut out 2 1/4 inch so I decided to open it up to 2.5". Either their is some mis-information out there or Dodge did not go to 2" pipe as a standard. I am also confused if 2.5" is too much for a slightly moded Neon then why are all the bolt on kits sold in 2.5 format

Mine was 2.25 stock as well. I put 2.5 on it. It didn't hurt performance at all. End of story.
