Default Low Profile Tires

Hi all!! New here been lurking for about a week. I just bought a 2004 neon Se and it came with low profile tires. I know basics for a car but have never dealt with these type of tires. Who are some good makers for the tires. The ones I have on there now are Kumho and I like them but want to research them before I have to go out and buy new tires when the time has come. I think I will have fun with this car however looking into learning how to do simple mods. The site is great. The tire size on there now is 195/50/16

Kumho's are actually a fairly good brand of tire. They're mid grade meaning they arent super expensive but they arent cheap.

I've had them on two trucks and had no problems with them. Unless you want to spend alot of money and waste it on high quality tires, Kumho's will get it done for ya.

You can also go with Falken & Hankooks. They are again mid grade tires that wont break your bank.

As for Goodyear's, Firestone, Bridgestone, Coopers, they all have decent tires as well, but some of them arent worth a spit as well...

Toyo and Yokohama's are pricey and for street tires arent the best of every day driving tires...

I have Toyo Proxes 4 All Season Ultra High Performance Tires on now...they cost me about $130 per tire but are the best all season tires i have ever driven on.

Road noise as well as they dont handle the water very well. It could be as simple as just the size/car that I have.

I'm running on a 17" wheel and a heavier car then you are....I just dont feel like it grips like it should...

I had Proxes 4s on my car (SRT) and absolutely HATED them, 30-day test drive? After about 10 days I was ready to pop them myself. I have BFG G-Force Sports....absolutely love them, great in water, great on dry-road (best handling dry tire on the market). Id seriously recommend them if you can get them in a size that fits.

That seems to be the prob finding a tire that fits my rims. I found a few very few all seasons on tire rack.com. I might just stick with this brand if they run well thru their life. Thanks for the replies !!

Your rim's arent the problem. Your rim should be a standard size like 16x6 or 16x5 and so forth. The tire size on your car is a low profile tire, 195/50/16. Looking that tire size up will limit how many tires actually show up.

If you went with a normal ride height tire, then you would indeed find a bunch of different options. This is your stock tire size, and it really wouldnt change much in the way of how your car sits. It's slightly taller, by about a 1/4 in. at most.

http://www.edgeracing.com/2004/Dodge/Neon/tires/16/ and then click on Tires and choose 16's as your size. It should list about 10 tires

Personally, I would switch back to a stock tire if you dont like the Kumho's. However, I think you will enjoy the Kumho ECSTA series tires. I would back them personally, because they have been great tires for me. My stepdad's actually going to get a set for his car next month. They are great in rain and dry weather, and also are a nice low profile without the high performance cost.

ahh ok someone gave me bad info then thanks for clearing that up. I like the tires so far but only a week into having them, I think the guy bought them bout 2 weeks before deciding to trade his neon in for a Ram. Much more choices however I am digging the low profile look
