What would be the best way to get a whole srt motor and tranny to swap into a 2002 automatic neon? I was thinking a salvage yard but i dont no how much that would run around. any ideas? thanks

 

For the M&T, you could probably get one from a salvage yard for around 1500-2000. You might find it cheaper, you might find it a bit more expensive then that. Just really depends on where you live and how many are in the area.

Once you have all that, then you would have to fab out a hole for the shifter, and the clutch....not to mention get all the linkage and everything.

It can be done, but I'd say your probably looking around $5000 ballpark to do it. It's really all going to come down to how cheap you can the parts/work done for. It could easily cost you $7-10k, but I think $5k isnt a bad ballpark if you are able to do some work yourself and get the parts cheap enough.

 

i paid $4,000 for my totaled srt-4 but i bought the whole car and not just the motor/trans.

 

There is a company that makes a swap kit, I think it was around $600 or $700, it comes with everything you need to swap from wiring to motor mounts, I have the site somewhere, I will try to find it. But yeah you are looking at about $5000-$7000 total by the time you get the motor, trans, gauge cluster, and have someone put it in.

 

i recomend doing it yourself, paying someone would prob. cost $2,000. it really is that much work prob. 150 hours

if ur turbo kit, make sure to switch trans to stick. automatic turbo=gay, if its even possible

 

Actually a built ATX is better for a turbo car. It is stronger and will run a quicker 1/4 mile. Keep in mind everytime you shift you loose boost, and ATX only shifts twice from a dead stop to top speed.

 

Yeah but ATX=BORING. I'll sacrifice .2 seconds for more fun.

 

Hey I have a auto 04 sxt and so far only mods I have are Aem intake, srt catback exhaust and a nitrous and stayin with 15 inch tires I got wider michelin hydros but anyway shes pretty fast and Im puttin in a stage 3 hahn racecraft trubo kit comes with everything you need for around 2 to 3 grand. Heard they are just as fast as srt4s . Autos are just as fun as sticks with the right mods especailly turbo with nitrous.
