Default Intake Squeak?!?

I just installed a K&N Typhoon Intake in my 2003 SXT and now whenever I am coasting or close to going a set speed, i hear a squeak from in front of the car. After opening the hood, it seems to be my throttle body. Also when i go slightly faster than the 'squeak speed' I hear another odd noise coming from the passenger side front. Other ideas from people have been my timing belt, but that was just replaced less than 800 miles ago.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

does it only happen at a certain point on the accelerator? if so, i'm haveing the same squeak/high pitched whine. when i accel less it goes away, and when i accell more it goes away. i've only noticed it since my cai was installed. i couldn't figure out what was causing it, cause it doesn't happen in neutral. only while i'm moving.

Any conical filter will whistle under light acceleration, not sure why but they will. Other than that not sure why it would "squeak."

Well yes it does happen only when i have a specific pressure on my pedal. Glad I am not the only one out here.. I also would like to thank you guys for responding so soon.. Thought I'd have to wait at least till tomarrow for any replies.

Well if it is because of the filer type (conical) that would explain why my K&N would do it just like an AEM. I think another problem that might cause mine is that I have no front cover of my fender well.. Got ruined in an accident when a man lost control in front of my dad..
So I am hoping once that is replaced that the sound will be less noticeable.

Thanks again!

yeah, some problems can be resolved pretty quickly. But for more complicated questions, it might take us a while to research or for the more knowledgeable people to log on and read it. We've got some pretty experience guys on here, so it shouldn't be that hard to track down the info you need.

i def know what you guys mean about the squeak.. it's more almost like a lil .ooo5 boost.. lmaoooo... i kinda like it.. but was also curious if its a lil air leak.. like maybe when your hit the gas a lil pressure is lost.. but i realized u can even hold the squeak...mine comes in about right after 2000 rpm...it's def the throttle body.. u can check it out when you give it gas from under the hood(not sure what's that's called)...u cant hear it as much. but u can notice it when the tb is opening up.......let me know it it's just me......

Ugh, damn we all have that same problem!?!
I would be willing to bet that it's the TB as well,
since I've heard the sound prior and after my CAI.

I never considered the whistle a problem. It is your intake. I personally like the noise myself. Mine is pretty loud. You can hear it easily when I have the window rolled down. I think I can even hear it with the windows rolled up. Mine whistles under light throttle, then when I stomp on it, it goes away. Once I hit 4000 rpms and I'm WOT the intake sound gets very deep and you can really hear the intake goin. At that point I think my intake might be louder then my exhaust....lol.

It might just be the intake sucking in air that makes the whistle sound like a squeek. I have an all aluminum CAI and the whistle is even greater because the metal echos the noise. I really don't think it is the throttle body but it could just be the SPRING a little rusty or something and a little WD-40 never hurt anyone. So try that if you really think it is the throttle body.

One more comment, I love when I get in my car in the morning and start it up after its been cold all night how it sucks it so much air and whistles when you put it into reverse, god I love that sound.

hahah ive been waiting for the right oppurtunity to post this...so far since ive installed my K&N typhoon....7 people that ive raced (mostly ricy hondas lol) (and yes ive been keeping count haha) have asked me if i had aftermarket turbo because of this "sucking noise" i love it to death...i think what we are all hearing is a sound from the throttle plate being at a certian angle that causes a squeak...and when you install the intake...the sound is just amplified because of more air and less noise dampering that the stock airbox causes....if that makes any sense what soever

just to look back and laugh at myself....after i installed that intake in my garage...i started it up and gave the gas a punch and the whistle echoed in my garage and i proceded to do this about 20 times because i was addicted to the sound haha
