Default Yet another computer question

Hey guys, another "newbie" here. I just bought a leftover 05 SXT with an auto tranny. I'd rather have a stick, but at $6K off sticker for a brand new car, I'll deal with it.

I'm looking for some info about the computers on these things. From what I've been reading here, they're pretty much "junk" when it comes to performance mods. I take it the the Jet chip is about the only thing to do, and does that only control fuel delivery and timing? Is there a seperate "computer" that controls shift points, speedometer reading ( for a tire swap ) and things like that? If so, what can be done with that?

Great site, lots of info for a new Neon owner

As far as I know the PCM controls everything.

It does. However most believe the 03+ neons pcm is somewhat limiting as compared to previous year neons. No one has really proved this to be true yet. There is however no real performance pcm upgrade available yet. The jet chip is out...but not many have tried it yet so there isn't much feedback on it yet.

Negative. I don't believe its possible unless you rewire everything. I believe some of the sensors are different....crank trigger is different I think.
