increasing performance on 2005 neon sxt
To all,
How can I increase performance on the 2005 Dodge Neon SXT I just bought - it has a spoiler on trunk -I'd like to know about suspension imporvments, rims, gas consumption and power...

first of all is it an automatic or a manual transmission? We already have threads in the 2nd generation section of this forum detailing how to accomplish this, but for the sake of simplicity I will go over it again.
- spark plugs and wires are a simple and cheap replacement part
- Cold Air Intake is a logical first choice for the performance aspect. If you buy a cheap E-bay knock-off replace the filter with a nice K&N filter
- Catback Exhaust System. Replace all the exhaust tubing from the catalytic converter all the way to a dual exit aftermarket exhaust (I recommend Borla, silencer optional)
- lowering springs of your choice, but Eibach tends to be among the best for the Neon. Don't skimp by cutting your existing ones, you'll pay for it later.
- an underdrive pulley will reduce the amount of HP is sapped from the system by the A/C and powersteering
- wider tires will give you a bit better traction than the stock tires
- a larger throttle body will definitely give you some power, but only after you've upgraded your exhaust and air intake
- an aftermarket header will allow for increased flow and remove some of the bottleneck seen in the stock model.
- upgrade your cam to either the Crane cam 10 or 12
- if you've got a manual transmission, get yourself a short throw shifter. It won't give you any performance increases, but it'll reduce the amount of time you spend shifting, and some people like the look of them.
- unfortunately nobody has made a race PCM for the 2003-2005 Neons, so you're stuck with a crappy JET chip
- lastly you can look into either a turbo or NOS
