Is there any site or place that could give instruction on how to take the cluster out?

All you have to do is romove your dash pad...then i think theres just screws holding the cluster in place, take out the screws, disconnect the wiring, and pull out the old cluster. Then just repeat the process backwards to put the new one in.

Two questions about that:
If I'm gonna install a nw cluster, will the mileage stay the same? Meaning, is the momory chip inside the cluster or somewhere else?

Also, wouldnt a new cluster be more expensive than an aftermarket tachometer?

I would like to know that too. With all the info i got before this i went out and bought a used sxt cluster with 38k on it for $90. My car has around 140k miles on it, will it read the 140k or the 38k?

Unlike GM vehicles, in DCx cars the mileage is stored in the cluster, not the car's ECU...so when you put in the new cluster it will read whatever mileage is on that cluster. There are a few ways around this, one is you can go to a dealership and have them flash your mileage onto the new cluster if you can convince them that the old cluster is broken...or you can attempt to take the memory chip off the old clusters control board and put it on the new one...the final method is simply finiding a cluster that is close to your mileage, and just marking the mileage difference.

Do you happen to know where the memory on the cluster is located? or do you think the dealer will have a problem changing my new cluster mileage if im changing it to a higher milage, since the new cluster has 38k and my actual mileage is 140k? thanks.

No i couldnt tell you off-hand where the memory storage is, if i had an extra cluster to look at i could probably locate it but i dont really want to take mine out just to look...as for the installation, simply remove the dash-pad, take out the screws holding the old cluster down, disconnect any wirering, take the cluster out, put the new cluster in, and just reverse what you already did. The wiring for the tach should already be there so after than yo'll e all set.
