Shifter
Has anyone tried to remove the shifter **** from a non SRT-4 shifter? I would like to put a different shift **** on my '05 SXT, like a new round shiny SRT-4 shift ****.
I was able to remove the shift **** on my '88 Chevy Sprint once and had a Bud Light tap handle in place of it, people thought it was the coolest thing, it hit the dash in 5th gear and it broke, so I shortened it and ran a tap through it and put it back on.
It was cool.
I thought of going the aluminum dash inserts, new shift ****, seat covers from autoanything.com (anyone buy those and if they had a good experience with them?), thought of different tail lights and saw black headlights on E(vil)Bay.
Thanks
Aaron

I'm not exactly sure what your question is...but to remove the regular massive shift **** just pull down the boot, twist the stock **** in one direction and push down at the same time, then pull it off...then just go to Autozone and by a universal shift **** and put it on. The boot will not fit right unless you tie it off at the top or buy an SRT-4 shift boot.
As for everything else, seat covers usually look like ultra crap and cheap...so save your money and look for SRT seats or go aftermarket. As for the dash surround, the stick on stuff is usualy good quality and will stay on for a long time if you apply it properly. Now the headslights you could make yourself and possibly save some money, and finally for the tails just look for TYC ones, they make many styles for the 03-05 Neons and ususlly run $150-$200 unless you buy them used.

Sorry to not explain so well, wrote it when I was tired.
Yes, I was wondering how to remove the shift **** off of my '05 SXT Neon. I saw a nice new shiny SRT-4 **** on ebay and had a flashback to the good 'ol high school days of round Hurst shifter.
I thought of the SRT seat route. Thanks for the information. We have the Orange Blast paint and want to make it look cool (long as the wifey goes along with it).
Thanks

thats why i said its too bad that you are so far away.....the jc whitney distribution center is less then a 10 minuite drive from me...and at the dc they have an outlet store, at the store you get a 10% discount on whatever you get...plus on saturday and sunday they have a discount section full of returned items that people ordered and decided they didnt want or stuff thats goin outa stock..everything is up to 75% off....sometimes you can go there and those seats will only be 35.00, and sometimes they will be 75.00...it all depends on when you go...when i got these seats they had about 20 more there...ive also gotten new headlights for .50 cents and side steps for my durango for 55.00....its a really neat place
