Hey i a 2004 neon sxt i am looking to get 17 by 7 inch motegi dp10 rims. What is the widest tire I can get for my car. I want to get a real racy looking tire and I know the g-force wheels by BF GOODRICH are pretty good.

 

Check tire rack. It has plenty of information to figure out what size tire will fit the rims. But I believe a 215 is the widest a 7 inch wide rim can safely handle.

 

I've seen people go 235's on 17x7 tires...but on stock struts the widest you can go is 215, so until you get new struts your limited to a certain tire maximum.

 

But that doesn't mean its necessarily safe.

 

i got 17x7. they work good but i did have to get spacers put on them, but other than that they are great.

 

ive got 205/50/16's on my 02 Neon and i cant even put my finger between the strut n the tire so i couldnt go any bigger than 205

 

You can fit 215 MAX with stock struts with 40 series tires, or maybe even 45 series, but your limited when it comes to tire width when you have stock struts...and of course i would assume the max width a 17x7 can take is 215 or 225 (like Low said..safely) depending i suppose. Otherwise go to 17x7.5, change out the struts with aftermartket Tokico or stock SRT ones...then your only limited by the wheel well and money.
