I have an oil leak on the back of my engine, what to do?
I have an oil leak in the back of the crank case where the heads(or the part that the header bolts on to) meets with the crank case. Its not a really bad leak but its enough to bother me. So my first question is, how long do you think it would take one mechanicaly inclined person to take everything off and fix the leak? Would it be possible to do all of this within one day assuming just a seal needs to be replaced? Which leads me to my next question, how should I fix this problem? Should I buy a new gasket for it or just use some red or black RTV? The Neons engine compartment is pretty cramped and a lot of stuff needs to be removed. Being in a full time college student and working full time, I dont really have any full weekends or time for a two day project.
BTW I have a 2000 Neon, 96k miles, SOHC, automatic.

for an oil leak there, you should be looking at a new head gasket...im not sure if ur gonna do it in 1 day though..its kinda rough unless you know exactly whats goin on...
Im thinking since im there I mine as well just replace the whole gasket with a new one. The cars got almost 100k on it so if I dont fix it now it will probably just get worse later. And no, I dont really know what im doing. Iv never taken that much crap apart on my neon before. I tried to take the valve cover off before but couldnt figure out how to seperate it from the spark plug tubes without messing up the seals. When I used to do this kind of work on my old 94 Cavy(RIP) it was so much easier because everything was so open and easier to work on. I should do some research first and get this planned out before I dive into anything.
