side body moldings
The process to take off the side moldings is the same process you use to remove the badges. Get a hair dryer set to high, some floss, and a nice plastic scraper. With some heat, a little patience, and some time you will have them off in less than an hour. Since ypou have an 05 there should be zero paint fade underneath. I will say without the side moldings the neon does get a clean look to it...which makes me wonder why i havent done it to mine yet...
I didn't even use heat. I just peeled a corner up with fishing line and then pulled them off. My car is black...and it was a hot day. Came right off. Looks super sexy without them.
I have taken them off of pickups to put stainless steel rocker panels on...
I just use a plastic scraper to pick an end loose, grab, and pull.
Then use an adheasive remover, or NAPA's Liquid Buffer to remove residual glue.
The moldings are trash when your done... but if you wanted them - you wouldn't be taking them off.

I've heard that if you wax and buff everything really well, and allow the car to sit in the sun for a while the fading will eventially go away. However, i dont know how long it would take, or whether it actually works 100%.
