Default HAS ANYONE DONE THIS?? HELP ME...

I WANNA PUT A SRT-4 TURBO KIT ON MY SXT BOTH CARS ARE 2005 MODELS....

My friend just bought a complete new (bigger) turbo kit for his 2005 srt-4.... I want to take his old kit and put it on my 2005 SXT. The SRT comes withthe 2.4 and the SXT comes with the 2.0... is this gonna cause a problem... I have his entire kit.... intercooler and all... i know i am gonna have to get a new computer but other than that.... HAS ANYONE DONE THIS??? Will the kit work?...Also, I now have an automatic... i am looking into switching over to a 5-speed, but until then will it work with the auto too??

PLEASE HELP ME..... IF IT DONT WORK, I DONT WANNA WASTE THE MONEY...

Yes it does work, i am currently putting my entire setup together. First off, you will only be able to run 8-10psi of boost, any more than that and you have the potential of blowing things up...You will need new injectors, new fuel pump, return line, RRFPR, oil pump, intercooler (i've heard that the SRT-4 intercooler will not fit because te auto tranny sticks out farther than the mtx), 02 housing, downpipe, exhaust, vacuum lines, oil lines, coolant lines, IC piping will not fit very well and you will end up cutting it up to fit...you will need a turbo manifold adaptor plate since your going from a DOHC manifold to a SOHC engine head. I'm not really sure on the aspects of the automatic tranny and how much tq and hp it can handle, but if you do the MTX swap you will need a new clutch. You will also need a boost gauge, A/F wideband gauge, and oil pressure gauge, along with the pods. You will also need an AOBE map clamp or missing link.

If you have a local shop in your area I would stop by and ask them if they think you can do the swap. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to seeing as the engine is not that much bigger and they do make bolt on turbo and intercooler systems for the SXT so I know there is the room in the engine bay for it. If you happen to find out about the swap let me know or post up on it cause I have an 05' SXT as well and am always considering different things for turbo options.

Just curious but what is a RRFPR.... I am getting EVERYTHING from this SRT kit.... I figured I was going to have to need something to adapt from the change from DOHC to SOHC.... Im not looking to boost to much, I just want a little extra kick... im tired of other pieces of crap messing with me and I want to be able to at least leave them for a minute .... im not looking to boost 20 lbs.... at least not yet... .... no, im not into racing "my" car but i would like to know that my car can hang if need be.....

thanks

Kim

Mmmm that gives me nothing but confidence...

(oh and i wouldnt run past 8-10psi, which is roughly 200whp for an auto...or else you risk blowing up things, as tooslow said ever so elequently)

thats all im looking to boost right now anyways... im getting the stuff really cheap.... i'll mod everything else later to get it more boost efficient... The car only has 4,000 miles on it... i bought it brand new a couple months ago... So 8-10 lbs will do me just fine for now..... I emailed that guy about the adapter.. I cant find a site for him though... any suggestions??

He's mostly on neons dot org...but i wouldnt jump to 8-10 right away. Start at 5-6 and gradually crank it up after you have had the systerm tuned up real nice. Besides, i think the wastegate on the stock srt turbo keeps the boost at 5psi, just that the engine pushes it further on the SRT-4 (so i've heard...)
