I was driving today and i was headed downhill when my 2002 Neon SXT shifted into first suddenly (AT). its been in 1st gear ever since. All the fluids are ok, and they're are no leaks.

A few months ago however the radiator broke and mixed the coolant and ATF. The radiator was replaced and the tranny was flushed numerous times, and it was fine for several months with no problems, until today when it got stuck, I can floor the gas but no change, only the rpms go through the roof... any answers???

I have a code p0700 which means something greek, anyone know where i should start?

 

try putting it back manualy

 

Is there any chance it could be something called a shift solenoid body, but i think it may be the module on the side of the transmission??? Any other guesses?

 

I also still have reverse. I've been driving it around and its fine, minus the fact it wont go beyond first.

 

i had that code and p0500 p0500 was the speed sensor. When i had that fixed and the codes cleared, i was good to go. I had the exact problem you are having. Any warrenty??

 

Warranty went out last year on the damn thing. the only code I have is the p0700 for the Transmission control system malfunction(EATX). Its gonna cost 266 to get a new module and i can't return it if thats not it. And shifting manually does nothing. Anyone have any ideas before I donate some money to the local Dodge Garage?

 

Stupid ised but have you gotten under the hood and made sure the shift lever on the tranny is not jammed up??

it should be right under ypur airbox??? just an idea!

 

The shift lever isnt jamed, it will move into every gear just no response from the tranny.

 

WOW, thats no fun, i would say take it to a tranny shop also and get two opinions. Also most transmission shops will guarantee thier work, so if they tell you its on thing and its not you wont have to pay full price.
