Default Gas

For some reason when i try to fill the tank on my car, it never lets me go pass 3/4 of the tank. Even when i try holding the gas pump it just clicks and stops as if it was full, has anybody had this problem before or knows something about whats going on with my gas system? thanks.

I have the same issue with my 2002 neon. I can never fill it up all of the way. The 1st gen neons weren't like this. They would stay on full for a long time. My neon goes down after about 10 miles.

Mine does that as well. I never thought of it like that though. When it drops that fast it always makes me think someone is stealing gas after I park my car. Which they could do.....

I did check but nothing with the recalls and tsb's. Most of it there was for seatbelts, brakes and suspension.

OK guys, there is proble going on with all cars right now with excess sulfer in the gas starting from Katrina when they allowed more to boost supply of fuel from the remaining refineries. The problem witht the sulfer is that is reacts witht the silver in the gas tank level sender. Corrodes it and now you have a crappy slow erroneous gas gage. The corrosion will short the meter cause it to do very wierd things. Check you milage and see how you are doing and see if you are still putting in 9-10 gallons from near empty reguardless of what the needle says. If this is the issue you may need a new fuel sender (Pump and filter). Was an article on it in the Chicago Tribune lately and all manufacturers are fighting it. THe use of Chevrons Techron can help. I work at a Ford Delaership and we have TSB's about it. Give it a doubleshot of Techron and one every oil change and see if it improves if you are out of warrenty if not check it into Dodge what ya waiting for.

My 03 se does this but if i only pull the gas lever a little bit it will allow 1-3 more gallons in. I think the prob. at least with mine is that the hose to the tank gets backed up. Not sure but pumping real slow when it clicks works for me.
My Guage stops about 1/8 away from full. Unless i do the slow pump thing.
