Hi folks, newbie to the Forum here. Have a stock 2000 Neon with 160,000km (100,000 miles) on it. its my daily commuter now (used to be the wife's, but she drives the Sebring now) and has performed admirably. The only repair to date has been a new tranny cooler.
From new tho, the car has a tendency to stumble, lug momentarily after the 1st to 2nd upshift (ATX). No fear of it stalling just that the power seems inconsistent then. As well, when starting the car first thing in the morning, it generally drives away with no problem, occasionally however, it will stumble for a split second as I step on it and then takes off. No codes showing
Would appreciate any insight you may have. Love the site and the helpful comments on here, tempted to put a little more oomph in the car and upgrade since the muffler is showing signs that it will perforate soon, and need new struts as well. Thanks!

 

I'm not too sure about your other problems, but the lag when you stomp on the gas is a common problem for most 2000 neons (or so I hear), I installed a K&N cold air intake and the lag isn't nearly as bad.
