Default How to remove stock intake system??

Alright.

I have the parts for a CAI.

I look at my system and Im thinking, "20 minute job......"
Yea. Okay.

HOW THE HECK do I remove the intake box / muffler / resonator / hellarestrictive intake box under the fornt drivers side?
I found 1 screw / bolt on the bottom, but the thing just wobbles. Where sthe other bolt located?. Or does it just need a good hard tug?.
I dont want to damage anything removing it, so I thought it better to ask, than risk breaking something.. :-\

I found a few threads on the object itself. But nothing really solid on how to remove.

Gimme a clue... A picture, anything?.
(if you have a picture of your old one, post it, Id love to see this thing, it looks pretty big.)

As soon as I got mine out, Ill do a quick 'how to' for it. LOL

i dont know where youre getting muffler and rasonaror from intake but theres some bolts that bold the box to the throttle body so get rid of them (4) then theres one on the right of the box bolting it to teh can its just a nut theres also a bold connecting it to a place around the radiator take that out. then there are some wires being held on by some clips so just take them out. box somes out then. you can take the elbow with the IAT out but make sure you put the IAT somewhere safe. the go to your wheelwell. its easier if you take the wheel off but not nessasary. take the wheel well out so you can see the aix box. there are 2 bolts holding it in i believe so just look all around it and then you will find them. once you have them out just give it a few tugs and it will come out. if it doesnt move dont pull harder cuz youll break somehting so look around for another bolt to take out. and thats how you take it out

its all quite an easy job.

The first thing you do is you need to undo the bolts that hold the support brakcets. After tat you need to detatch it from your throttle body. You need to jack your driver side front tire and take it off to get the rest off. Dont put it back on becuase you have to put on the CAI through the same whole it came through the body.

P.S. i can probably get you pictures for an example.

Oh, if you really need help, go to auto zone or some place like pep boys and pick upa book for your neon. it tells you how to take off the intake and such.

So that big *** box has a few bolts in the wheelwell area. K, good to know. Thanks folkes.

Speeking of the throttle body.
Anyone happen to know where the tube terminates that seems to run from the TB around the air intake filter box, then off towards the firewall..... What the heck is it for?

FYI...you don't need to jack up the car and take the drivers side wheel off. I turned my wheel a bit and I had enough room to work and my car is lowered.......don't know why you'd need the wheel off. As for the air box, you should be able to see all of those bolts. There might be a nut to attach the box to the car frame. However to get the rest of the air system that goes into the wheel well you will need to take two screws and a plug (don't know what else to call it, just pulls out) to pull back the splash shield in the wheel well. Then its just a matter of taking bolts off and the whole snorkel thing in the wheel well will come out. Its quite large as well.

I got it after work.
Took me about 10 minutes to remove the stock air "Box" as it were.
That sucker is HUGE and heavy!

Just two bolts held it in.

I left the tier on, just turned the wheel to give me a little room to remove the wheel well fender on the inside. I just undid the two screws that hold it to the front fender, then poped the two plastic clips off. Bent it back and hooked it over the tier to work in the space.
There is LOADS of space in there once the air box is gone!.
I wonder whats on the passager side?? LOL

Oh, I got some pictuers as I worked.
Ill post them as soon as I find a good host.
