Default Loosing Back Pressure???

i just replace my 3.5 in tip muffler with a 4.5in tip, for sum reason when i floor it it doesnt catch the way it used to, like if i lost alot of back pressure in the exchange, is this possible? would it make a diff to change diff size of muffler tips? not the whole exhaust just the tip.

To a certain degree. If the exhaust has too much backpressure it will hold back the engine, but too large of an exhaust will not allow enough backpressure, and the engine will lose power.

Just the tip shouldn't really make that much of a difference. I suppose if the exhaust was almost perfectly tuned then it might make some difference, but I wouldn't think it would be anything noticeable.

I have a 4.5 in. Muffler on my neon and it has never seemed to impede my performance.....umm.....but I also went straight from stock too.....so I'm not too sure if 3.5 would be better.....

honestlly its all in your head, you are hearing the louder sound and thinking too much. your back-pressure is make way before the tip, if you still have stock muffler and piping you never changed the back-pressure, and even if you did you should gain HP.

replacing the muffler wouldnt change the back pressure because of the cat and resonator causeing back pressure right?.
