Default Valve Cover Question

I just took off my valve cover to paint it the same color of the car. my question is, do i really need to replace the gasket cuz im a lil broke at the moment, will it matter, i heard no cuz the stock one is made out of silicone, not sure if its true, let me know asap

Well it would be better to replace it if you had the money available, but its not totally necessary. You do realize that the SE/SXT valve covers are plastic right? That will make it harder to paint and get a nice shiny finish...just a little fyi for ya.

well mine looks pretty tight, i have two valve covers, one is all red, but the other one im goin all out and do sum chrome or silver out lines and paint the 2.0 l 16 valve like the injector cover, black background with silver letters, ill put pics of it on my domain in like 2 hrs

I wasnt saying you couldnt make it look nice, its just easier when they are metal...post up those pics i want to see them!!!

If you want to make it look shiny, just give it a couple coats of spray-on clearcoat after the paint.

Valve cover?

Isnt the Neon engine an OHC?
That would mean the Valve cover was on the bottom and the Crank cover is on the top??

Nope. SOHC= single over-head cam. Cam's on top, crank's on the bottom.

Yes the Neon is an OHC engine.

And no, the valve cover encloses the valve spring area of the cylinder head...which obviously, is at the top
