turbo
You can run up to about 8 PSI on the stock internals. After that you will want to replace connecting rods and pistons. I believe 8 PSI is good for roughly 220 HP and 240 lbs/ft of torque on the stock internals. Quite the improvement. Top of my list for mods.
The rough estimate is the motor can handle 250wtq before you break connecting rods, obviously its not like, "you hit 250wtq once and your entire engine explodes", but most of the time if you maintain those kind of numbers the connecting rods will weaken and break. There is a member who has run 10psi for a very long time and has 219whp/244wtq with no problem at all. Obviously he has the car tuned quite well, which is another thing you need to consider...you could be running 5psi and blow your motor if it is not tuned properly.
agreed....... you can run very little boost and blow it up, when i put my turbo in the winter i am having professionaly tunned, so i do not have to worry about it going boom!!! and the stock block is good ut to and including ten lbs of boost, you can not run much more than that....untill you start rebuilding internals...i am going to run 7-8 lbs on my setup.. t3t4, with the rfl bov, apexi fuel managment witch i would also recomend for your setup, and a clutch to go with it, stock clutch is only good for about 150-170 horse. along with injectors about a 25 lb injector should be good....the thing i found out when building a set up...is if you think you are going to spend 1500- figure on spending 3000.........lol good luck and i say go for it!!!!!!!!!!!
