Default Minimum rotor specs?

What are the minimum rotor size specs for the front of a 2002 Neon? I took the car in for brakes and they say it needs new rotors. Interesting, I bought this car with only 8k miles, it now has 50k and this is the first brake work. Shop claims they are at .803 and .812" and will be undersize when they turn them. Thanks!

Front rotor are suppose to be:

new ----------.861"-.871"
minimum-----.803"
variation-----.0005"
runout--------.005"

So with an initial cut of .004" per side of the rotor you will be at or under minimum specs. So you need new rotors. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate the help. At least I know the shop was being truthful.

just dont let the shop rip you off. you can get decent rotors and pads for around $50 and install them yourself in less than an hour. post up if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the tip, actually the charge was reasonable, I just questioned how the car could require rotors on what I thought was it's first trip in for brakes. This Neon STX is my youngest daughters, I've given up wrenching on the family cars for the most part. I save my wrenching time for my classic toys in the garage. Thanks again, great site. John
