Hi, just starting today whenever I turn on my car the speedometer and rpm gage goes clockwise all the way to the end and then comes back to the beginging stoping like a quarter a way for like a split second till it reaches the beginging again. My fuel and heat gage do the samething as well. That whole thing only last for about two seconds. But then the car runs fine after it happens and all the gages work fine as i'm driving the car. I have about 66,000 miles on the car and no engine lights come on. Should I be worried that the computer is going bad? Thanks guys!!

I searched and didn't find anything related, just things why the gauges wouldn't work at all. My gauges still work fine, they just go crazy when i first start the car or even when i just click foward once on the ignition. Someone told me it is becasue my battery is going bad, any truth to that thanks.

 

Sounds like the gauge testing feature is testing on its own...your supposed to be able to hold down the Trip Odo and then start the car, the gauges will jump in roughly 1/4 increments and then go back to where they started. Dont really know if your problem is a precursor to something electrical though...

 

yeah, i searched as well. only found info on replacing the cluster. perhaps this is what i was thinking of (1st gen cluster replacement). or on the 'other forum' i may have seen it. maybe just check all the connectoins on your gauges... 03 is correct about the 'test' feature, but why would it be coming on all the time unless you have a connection sticking or something?
