I'm pretty new at this, but I have heard the K&N name alot.

I think there is 2 groups on this, some are looking for the cheapest, of which there are alot on e-bay.
Then others want quality and a brand name

I personelly got one off e-bay for less than $30, it is a short ram and I have had no problems with it and am very happy with it.

I have seen some posts complaining about some of the cheap stuff tho. I'm pretty sure most of the cheapys come with very little or no instructions, so u need to either need to know what yer doing or use common auto sense...

go with the K&N or the AEM. it is worth the price to get a good intake than a piece of **** intake that ull just end up throwing out in the long run

I have a K&N CAI and I love it, it was really easy to put in and the instructions that came with it are great and I only paid $179 USD.

its pretty accurate. Mine took about 50 minutes (with me taking my time and making sure i had everything done properly). It truely should only take an experienced person no loner than 45 minutes.

You have to jack up the car on the drivers side and take off the wheel. Take off a peice of the plastic wheel well (not hard), and thats pretty much the only difficult part.

K&N and AEM are the best bang for the buck (and they are built well).

What would be the reason for throwing the cheap one away? Anyone done that? Do they wear out/stop working - I doubt it. They appear to range from $30-$230. There will be a quality difference. But the biggest thing is that at least my cheapie did not come with directions (I usually don't use them until I get in trouble or have parts left over anyway . And the fit may not be just perfect. But if you know what everyting is that you disconnected, you sholud be able to install it. PM me. I'll send you a picture if unclear. Once it's in place I doubt there's any performance difference between one to the other. You only have to remove the fender skirt if you get the fenderwell intake. But you can probably leave the wheel on if you turn to the left lock and jack it up a bit. It all boils down how much disposable income you have. I like to think I got an intake and a set of Dunlop 901's for the price of an AEM. I think the filter element I got is very comparable to a K&N based on looks compared to teh K&N on our Yukon. Oh one other thing. It came oiled but didn't have a maintenance kit. The nice ones probably come with that. That said I'm real happy with what I got for 40 bucks/ 40 minutes. Just got new tires too!
