Default wet trunk?

Latlely I've noticed my interior of my trunk getting wet when it is rainy. It happened the first time noticably after I removed the spoiler and put on spoiler plugs temporarily, so I siliconed the underside of the plugs to seal it. well now it still happens, and it also coinsides with the lowering of my car. Is there any reason for it to be wet, I did notice today it seemed to be the bottome of the trunk, and under the spare tire well, is there something to look for to seal that area up tighter? Anyone else experience this issue?

Did you put the spoiler back on or what? The only time I had a problem with a wet trunk was when I bought me car. Me and My parents went to the dealership and looked the car over for the last time. We decided to get it and they did the paperwork so we couldn't take it till like 5 days after that and the Idiots left the trunk popped and it rained so they had to steam clean the carpet in the trunk and dry it. Not a big deal but it kinda goes along with what your talking about so I thought I might put this in.

i forgot where i read it but check the seals around your tail lights. water seeps in from there and goes down into your trunk. i saw you car pics and you have aftermarket tai lights so make sure theres no room for water to get in there.

good choice on tails btw

haha

Check your trunk seal (all that stripping), check your tail light seals, and check the "plugs" for leaks. Just get a cup of water and poor it over them and then lift up the trunk right after...

Also, if you have a "flip" trunk something about the design allows water in for some stupid reason (people have put it back and found no leaks).

The best thing to do is use some silicone seal....

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help, doesn't appear to be anything listed, I tried the cup o water test and no go, I may pick up some new lights gaskets though, the ones that came with the tails were kind of chincy. There is also a bunch of condensation on the inside of the trunk lid, maybe just from the heat wave we had though and the dampness...oh well for now, no sub til I figure this one out[:@]

Hey. This is my first time posting on here, but I had the same problem w/ my 04 neon r/t. I have stock wing/tail lights tho.

There was one thing that I did find/do that seemed to fix the problem. On the underside of each of rear tirewell there is a set of loovers i guess you can call them that seem to allow air into the trunk. My problem was that the driver side set of vents or w/e you want to call them was stuck up allowing water to fly into the trunk while driving (the tire threw water up into it).

Hope this helps.

I pretty much covered everything as with mike. There is only 3 reasons for water in the trunk....

Spoiler (or plugs) are not sealed properly
Tail Light Gaskets Leak
Trunk Rubber Seal is damaged/ripped and needs to be replaced.

If ya don't believe me about those sets of vents being there. Just take a peek. The leak I had in my trunk came from the side wall of it (no where near any of the seals/tail lights)
