Default Big Neon noob here

Hey guys. My wife is looking at a 2002 neon auto. How good are these cars? The only problem ive ever seen of the second gen neons is control arm bushings( like the chev caviler) How do the compare to the caviler in long term.(What about performance The auto is kinda slow) I like the look of a neon better but I here a lot of bad stories for the first gen ones.[&:]

2nd gen seems to be great. All cars have an issue somewhere.

I agree. But is the neon a car that will last as long as a caviler? Oh and are there any problems that you have had after your car obtaind high milage.(head gaskets?)

Go with the neon, the first gens are not even comparable to the second gens. If you want a boost in performance get a CAI and a cat back exhuast and that should work out nicely. But yea all cars are usually about the same its just how you maintain them that makes all the difference.

Lots have been over 200K most higher milage 2GN cars that I have seen, seem to be in better shape than most older Cavaliers. Of course there are always exceptions. Head gaskets are are probably the biggest issue facing the Neon and most 2GN cars are much less likely due to MLS gaskets in them. Pretty much solved the issue. Of course there are always exceptions once again. Mostly run of the mill stuff after that.

Well we picked up the neon today. Very good first impression. Just wish it was radar proof(got pulled over by the RCMP)[:@]
