Water everywhere

Water everywhere
I got home from work this afternoon and my wife told me that there was water all inside my daughters Neon. When I checked it out, there was water standing in the rear floorboard area as well as standing in the trunk, under the spare tire. It did rain all day yesterday and we were experiencing 40 mph wind gusts. Has anyone else had this particular problem and if so, what was the cause and how did you fix it? Thanks in advance for any help you might give me.

RE: Water everywhere
try resettin the gaskets on the taillights and tightenin the screws for them that seems to be a pretty common problem for 2nd gen neons
make sure to take the trunk liner and back seats out so they can dry also lift the carpet in the back seat and stink peices of 2x4 under it so air can get in there and dry it out. it will stink after awhile

RE: Water everywhere
I have this problem right now with mine. Since i have replaced the passenager side taillight gasket the amount of water has reduce. Today i ordered the driver side gasket. The gaskets are foam and dont work that well after 2 or 3 years. If you need any help let me know and I'll see what i can do. If you want new gaskets they are 9 dollars a side and you can order them through the nearest dodge dealer. The one here gets them the next day.

RE: Water everywhere
Thanks to everyone who responded. This past weekend I got into my daughters neon while she hosed down the back half of her car. I noticed a small amount of water coming in around the right hand side of her trunk lid, closest to the back window. I also found a significant amount of water coming in from around her left taillight. I pulled both taillights reset the seals and tightened them down very snug and unfortunately that didn't help. As for the trunk seal, it is loose on the top side of the trunk. I can actually lift off about an 8 inch section. Does Dodge have any TSB's or anything to address this problem with the taillights? Seems like a problem they would like to eliminate.
