Engine Shutdown / Oil Light
I'm trying to help my girlfriend out with her 2002 Neon Sedan. I dont know much about these things but I do know you guys come highly recommended.
We got a check engine light last night so we opted to take the car for a free diagnostic today at Autozone. When I started the vehicle this morning I got the check engine light again, then the engine turned off. The oil lamp came on and a little red circle blinks below it.
I checked the oil, it's right where it should be. I checked the radiator, full and no oil mixed in. Then I took the batt cable off to reset the system only to repeat the problem
I cant diagnose the car unless I get it running or have it towed. Hopefully this will be covered by warranty though I havent read through the policy yet. Does anyone have any suggestions that may shed some light on the situation?
Thank you in advance.

Wow, didnt know that could be done without a reader. Code I get is unlisted. P0513. I googled it and it comes up under OBD III as P0513-INVALID SKIM KEY, or Incorrect Immobilizer Key?
What color is the key you are using? The SKIM system is a type of security system that only allows a key with the proper chip inside to start the car. So if you make a copy of the key, or if someone tries to steal it, the car wont start because the PCM isn't detecting the SKIM.
The key I used was a spare, though I disconnected the battery cable overnight and my girlfriend started it will her original key the next day with no luck. It still shuts down. Any ideas?
If that is indeed the problem, is there a way to reset the ECU? Would a new key from Dodge help? We dont have the money to tow it anywhere at the moment. Thank you,
B

Reset should clear all the codes except for the one saying the battery has been disconnected within the last 50 cycles. I don't know if your key will work or not. Probably will have to get a new key. New keys are somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 dollars I believe...not for sure cause I haven't had to get a new key before.
