Hey Im a newbie and I was wondering why my car tops out at 120mph. I am usually in 4th at about 5700rpm when this happens. Can anyone tell me what they think the prob may be.
I have k&n cai, tsudo headers, tsudo hi flo cat, vibrant duel exhaust, and a stage1 jet chip. The chip didn't make any major power gains but it made the gears a bit longer and stopped the car from cutting off at 120mph, it simply stops accelerating. I think it is worth the money to not worry about losing power when you may need it.
the chip works as an assist but dose not cut off your govener
The chip doesn't do ****. And it does nothing to change your gearing. I don't know where you are getting that from. Prove to me it does something, I've seen proof that showed it does nothing. Your car won't go anymore because thats the governor cutting you off. I read somewhere how to get around it but I don't have the link or remember how someone did it. But I think it screwed up your speedometer as in that it didn't read correct anymore. And its actually 118 when it cuts. Until you can trap at 118+ or have the stones to run your car that fast on a road track you really have no need to go that fast or any faster.
The chip does nothing at all...its been proven over and over that chips do not work on any Neon. It certainly wouldnt make yur gears longer, let alone give you any power to speak of...as for the speed limiter, since you have an 03+ the only way to get around it is to install MS...and of course mod the engine a lot more, because those mods you have arent giving you much poower at all...
I didn't mean that the chip cut off the governer, but that the car doesn't shut off. Loss of power to the car not a power gain. Also it doesn't change the gearing it just redlines at higher speeds. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was tired when I posted that don't want to miscomunicate.
