Default Vibration in CAI

i have a 2001 neon ES 5sp trans, and i have a CAI on it that vibrates usually when the TB is shut(when im not on the throttle) usually while im idling or at a stop, it makes a horrrrrrible almost whining noise that doesnt sound good at all.... what should i do to stop this? sorry if im not describing it well its hard to if you dont see it, also when it makes the noise and you grab the CAI pipe the noise stops but your arm starts vibrating..... anyone have a suggestion?

It could be a support issue. I have seen someone put a wire from a coat hanger underneith the pipe right after it comes off the throttlebody. This supports a most of the weight of the CAI. The airbox was bolted down in multiple places, but the CAI is just connected to the throttlebody. The CAI needs some support.

well there is a metal strip comming off of it that attaches to the battery tray but its not really doing a very good job of holding it in place i guess.... i think im gonna have to use a coat hanger or some wire

NO NO NO, I know EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING, b/c I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, silly old me, where the pipe goes through the hole down toward the ground you have to put a rubber stip around the hole other wise it will vibrate and act like a damn trombone, lol.

Yeah, lol. The word kinda slipped from my head. but yeah there is a little rubber strip that usually comes with cai kits and u just take some superglue and put it around the hole so the pipe isn't rubbing up against the metal in the fender.

ooooo, ahhh good question, mine came with the kit, I would check westlakes/ace hardware, but really I'm not sure, just check around.

What I'm talking about you can see on this pic off of an ebay CAI, i just found a pic really quick.

for a really quick fix tonight, just duct tape a piece of rubber around that lip. you can make it more astetically pleasing later, but it will get rid of that awful metal on metal vibration for now.
