Default CAI problems

When I install my CAI on my 05 SXT it runs fine at idle but about half throttle it boggs and backfires.
When I put the stock intake back on it runs fine. Any sugestions?

Did you install it properly? Sometimes you can install the cai and it might be loose to the TB....check to make sure that your connections are tight...

Yes all connections are tight, the IAT sensor is in and the vacuum line is also in. This is what is confusing me.
The vacuum line is about 8" from the throtlebody and IAT sensor about 10" from throtlebody.

Wow, that should never happen, I think it is a more serious problem or you doing something WAY wrong, b/c a cai is not that hard to install and should never cause that problem.

Not sure but I think the problem is the stock accordion looking tube between the intake and the throtlebody.
I have noticed it lets my throtlebody move about 2"- 3" when the engine is revved. It is a cheap CAI and didnt come with the tube to replace that one. Might go to autozone and pick up a tube and some couplers and try again.

Maybe but I kinda doubt it. I guess it could never hurt to try, the one I got of ebay came with one and all the colors matched my car(lucky).

if its a cheap ebay intake it most likely didnt have a supporting bracket to hold it up so as you rev the engine, it moves and something might open and close. make sure there are no cuts in the accordian thingy
