Default tires on higher horse power cars

i have a problem with my car spinning at the light when i take off, i am running 17s, and was just wondering what some of the more higher horse cars are running on the website, i was thinking of going drag radials, but i hear they only last about a year, if driven on the street?? but i know at 150 each that can be expencive every year, any help would be GREATLY apreicated, i do not mind spending 150 a tire, if they last longer than a year

first off you may want to lower your rim size with more tire and less rim youll spin less. i like to use 14s with blizzacks.

hold on wait ur running 17's turbo'd with those mods? doesnt sound right. but if u do get drag radials u dont drive them on the street just the track and should last longer than a year depending on how much u race. my advice is rev up around 3,500 rpm and slowly ease the clutch to get as much traction as possible. also get solid motor mounts they will help

Ok, for the advice you wanted. I couldn't remember what the results were of a 05 car and driver tire comparison test so I went back to refresh my memory. The tires I would either go with for overall money, and performance, and still being able to perform well in some rain would either be "Goodyear Eagle F1's" or "Michelin Pilot Sport PS2", Both are pretty pricy but if you only go with two it going to be under $360 for either pair. Also I'm sure you could probably convince any tire dealer to get you a set of 4 for around 500 hundred or so. My choice would be the "Goodyear Eagle F1's" b/c they ranked 1st and perform well in all conditions and are not the most expensive in comparison at $145 a piece.

He is the link so you can get the complete detail on all the tires and choose for yourself. http://www.caranddriver.com/features...the-tread.html

Oh and as one last note, I hate seeing cars that streetrace with DR(drag radials), b/c to me it's not street racing, because that should only be used for the track. If your gonna "street race", it should be a street legal car (exception:CAT), running on pump gas 93 or less, the car should have the same motor as it had stock(any type model of car) with any number of mods and finally, it can have performance tires and not any type of drag related tires. But thats just my opinion. Only reason I get ticked off about this is b/c their is an srt-4 in my town who always runs around on DR's durning the weekend and thinks he's hot sh*t b/c he runs faster and beats cars would would kill him on the actual track.

pics always help

i got new rims which are 16's with the Eagle F1 GS-D3's. They work really good in the rain and wen its dry. My old tires i had on 17's would spin pretty bad in first and spin some in 2nd too. Now with the F1 GS-D3's i spin a little in 1st and they just chirp 2nd now instead of spin. I am really happy with them on my car, but idk how they would work on your turbo neon because you have more hp than mine. I have seen these tires on a Camaro SS that wasmoderatly modded so they should be good tires.

solid motor mounts are in my car already, and i still have a hard time with spinning, the rims i got had a cheap set of tires on it when i got them, so i think it may have something to do with that also, i am running around 200 hp to the wheels now, will be dynoed in march, but i need to get something that will grip the road, the head has helped with touque and ALOT with top end, i have seen a street leagal drag radial, not a slick....they will fit 17s on it, and oh yeah, i rev it to 3000 rpms, and gently go off the clutch before i had the turbo and it would smoke the tires.....(not dumping the clutch) but more important is i would rather run a tire that is going to help with handling and grip, NOT JUST grip, i have a road that i live on that has alot of curves and that is where i like to get on teh car, so handling is important to.........

i think he also ment for the track your pick throu me off. the prob is that you can get one or the other. the more give a tire has such as high sidewalls the less the spin but more give means more sway and that lowers your handeling. now you can get a hrp that has harden sides and soft tred and do both for the street but they have 0 tredlife
