Default Exhaust question

Got a 04 SXT. All the cat back exhausts I'm finding say they are for models without a rear sway bar. Will a RT cat back bolt up and have room for the sway bar, since the RT came stock with a rear sway bar?

Does your SXT HAVE a rear sway bar....? It wont have one unless you put it there.

If so then the R/T should be ok.

we have put an r/t exhaust on an sxt and it went right on...but u might want to find an r/t bumper to go with it so u will have the 2 cutouts and it will look a little better but yeah it wil fit

1. Yes, the R/T exhaust fits... if it fits an R/T with a sway-bar in the way, it will fit a Neon without a sway-bar in it's way.

2. You don't have to go swap bumpers to have the dual-outlet cutouts in the back. The SE, R/T, SXT, and SRT4 bumpers are actually all made in the same exact mold, except they put removeable blocks in the mold to block the flow of plastic to make the "cutouts" for thedual outlets. If you look close on the SE or SXT bumper, you can see two little half-moon lines through the paint of the bumper where the cutouts usually would be for R/T or SRT4 exhaust pipes (from the grooves in the mold where the blocks would have been to create the holes)... trace the lines carefully with a razor or exacto knife, and voila you have your dual-outlet cutouts the same as the R/T or SRT4 in fact basically identical if you follow the lines close enough... just lightly hit the edges where you cut with some touch-up paint so nothing chips later.

04 and up need no bumper cutouts.

In fact the Mopar catalog when I ordered mine with the car said to get paint for the trimmed cutout section of 03 and earlier bumper and clearly stated not needed on 04 and 05. Not even close.

Mine has none. My Progress Technologies 22mm sway bar is just fine with the RT Muffler. You need the muffler, 2 clamps and the adapter to conver the 2" pipe to 2 1/4" pipe for the muffler. Hangs in stock hangers. Then no more stupid single pipe.

Mopar has a kit for the muffler so you can buy each clamp and adapter separately if you find a great deal on the Muffler separately.

True... but get down under your car and look at the bumper, you might not need to the cutouts, but nonetheless the lines are still there to do so if you choose.

Actually, the R/T and SRT-4 rear bumpers are very different...not only are the cutouts placed farther apart, there is a "lip" on the the SRT-4 bumper that make it go lower to match the lines with the side skirts and front bumper...because if you look at an R/T the bottom of the rear bumper is higher then the sideskirts and looks terrible in comparison to the SRT-4.
