Tranny noise / fluid drain question
Got my '04 SXT 5-spd. At the end of summer, I drained the fluid and tried to re-fill it (pain in the butt). I tried to get as close as I could to the proper level, but...
It's been about 0 degrees here at night and in the morning lately, and when I start my car, I get this metal/metal noise that comes from the tranny (random noise too, not constant). It's relatively annoying, but it goes away after a few minutes (once the fluid warms up?). Is this normal when it's this cold out?
If not, I wanted to check the level again, but it's really a pain in the butt to even get in there and see anything. I also would like to know what the skinnier, longerplug on the front of the transmission is for, about 5" above the drain plug on the front side... when you take it out, nothing happens... is this an over-flow plug that is supposed to be out while filling? Thanks, any advice would be appreciated...

RE: Tranny noise / fluid drain question
yeah that's what I was thinking... but it only does it when it's really freaking cold out (like below freezing, or lately here more like 10 at daytime all the way down to negative 15 at night)... and like I said it goes away when the car is warmed up, so we'll see if it gets worse or just keeps up the cold weather symptoms and goes away again in the spring (wishfull thinking, right?)
