Default CAI question

How far does a CAI stick out through the fender well? I thought I saw someone's CAI that had the filter and about 6 inches of tubing that was actually in the fender-well in front of the tire.

Any problems with getting the filter wet when it's raining or snowing?

I looked at the instructions for a K&N Typhoon CAI. It looks like the filter end of the CAI is located between the front bumper and the driver side fender well. Is that correct? I am looking at the horde of EBAY CAI's and I do not want to purchase a Short Ram thinking that it is what I really want.

I looked at that thread before, but It only shows a picture of the engine bay. It does not completely explain the installation. And it does not show where the filter itself will be located once installation is complete.
