Water Got Into The Hood
Hey everyone!! I went threw a puddle and water splashed into the air. Next thing i know my engine stalls and won't start anymore. I was told to maybe get an oil change to drain the water out or let it dry out. what do you all suggest the fact that its going to be below 30 over here in Northern VA all week. Couldn't the water freeze and never get out until its spring?
umm well how deep was the puddle. do you have a cai? if the cai or other intake was completely submerged then your car is now in hydrolock and lets just say start shopping for a new car or engine at least
well puddle was big and not very deep but i know that it was submerged and i do have an air intake. at first the engine stalled and then i tried turning it back on and it seemed to want to but then turned off again.
i tried like 4 hours later and its very cold out...below freezing here. so i was told the water may have frozen and may need to be towed and warmed up and do an oil change to be saved. any recommendations? or suggestions?
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!

you have water in your cylinder heads. the reason its not cranking is because you cant compress water im not sure what the procedure is for gettin it out but its a complete overhaul. you might have to call insurance and junk it. take your intake out though cuz theyll throw a fit at that
I thought I read somewhere if you take spark plugs out and crank it over it will push the water out that way. But either way you could pull your plugs and see how they look. It must have been a hella big and deep puddle to do that. It monsooned (or what I would call one anyhow) here over the summer several times and I drove through probably 3-5 inches of water without a problem. But I wasn't hauling *** or revvin it very high because I didn't want to risk hydrolocking it. But I have driven through quite a bit of water and snow. Enough snow to go all the way up to about the dodge emblem on the bumper. Have never had one problem whatsoever with my intake.
this puddle wasnt deep it was just big and i know this is stupid but about 2 months ago i had too much air in my tires and one of them popped and destroyed the splash guard and bent the fender. my point is that i still don't have the splash guard above the tire.

Same ish happened to me and now im without a car again. But you know what happened to me.. water got in the PCM.. idk how but somehow it managed to get inside the plugs and everything. My car is lowered, probably driving in the snow but I still don't understand how it got through the gasketsand all that. So my car is back in the shop..
I drove through a puddle as well but it didn't stall at all. I drove it for an hour after driving through the puddle and then started it twice after that. But the next morning I went to start it and it wouldn't. Would it still be the same thing? I'm nervous about taking it to the mechanic because I don't wanna know that I can't repair it.
