Hi, I recently bought a 2002 Neon SXT. I wanted to throw a 2003 Non SRT-4 Body kit on it, but I wasn't sure about fit issues. I read around and saw that the SRT-4 body kit would fit but needed new headlights and some drilling. Will I have to go through the same hassle if I want the 2003 kit?

You will just need new front headlights and tail lights if you want to change to either a new body kit or the SRT style bumpers. Te thing with the SRT bumpers is that you need an SRT style window washer fluid bottle. The one on the SXT's is bigger and will not allow for clearence. other than that it is a simple bolt on job.

 

Okay cool. So if I were to buy the kit and new headlights, I take that i'd need a new hood as well?

 

No. All 00-05 Neons have the same hood.

 

You just need headlights and the kit. Taillights just have a different cover on them. Good choice though, thats one of my three options on the front but I'm getting those sideskirts and bumper.

 

I'm going to buy the Buddy 2 Kit, but I know it's only for 03-04 models.

What lights do I buy? I'm going to have to ebay this or hella shop around because I have a really tight budget.

Are the lights easy to install?

It depends, Dodge made three different headlights. Match up the lights. However it will be a pain if you go to first to second gen. With the two somewhat identical neons(second) I think you just have to take out the bolts when you pop the hood and unplug the light.

 

I want the 03-05 lights. I'm hoping that those lights aren't too hard to put on my car. I might stop by the junk yard to see if they'll fit okay before I drop 200 on a good set.

 

actually i believe that the SRT4's hood is approximately one inch shorter

 

that is correct good sir. although they will all fit, the srt hood is a bit more rounded at the end where the others come to a point
