Clutch
Myep. I do believe my clutch is on its way out. Well its okay for granny driving, but any hard shifting, high rpm shifting it slips. What do I buy to replace it. I drive stick well so its not that I'm new to manuals or don't drive it very well. It just means the stock clutch wasn't meant to handle that kind of pressure. My friend is telling me to buy a srt clutch and you can modify it somehow to work? Anyone know about that? Or any other clutch suggestions, I'm not real interested in a pt clutch because from what I've heard it is super cushy. I want something that is fairly stiff.
Yes, it does work. It takes quite a bit of modifying from what it looks like. However I'd rather get something that doesn't need to be modified to work. I don't think I want a n/a pt clutch for the reason I stated in my first post.
Yes, i'm well aware it can be "modified" to work...but that can be said about damn near anything...but a brand new SRT-4 clutch is in the area of $500, and at the price you could buy a better aftermarket clutch anyways...
Heres some info from the .org on how the clutch needs to be modified...

SRT-4 clutch modified to work with a "Neon" and PT Cruiser NVG-T350 5-speed, all years 3.55 and 3.94 gear ratios. This would be a low-buck "upgrade" beyond a PT Cruiser clutch for boosted and nitrous cars. You must use an SRT-4 throwout bearing, the "Neon"/"PT" bearing is a different design and will not work well with the SRT-4 pressure plate finger design. Will work in hydraulic or cable actuated cars. SRT-4s are making in the 300WHP area and nearly 400WTQ on stock clutches all over the country. An SRT-4 pressure plate and disc will not work on a "Neon"/"PT" flywheel, the friction area is too small on the flywheel and the pads where the SRT-4 pressure plate would bolt on are in the way, are spaced wrong and the bolt/rivet holes are in the wrong location
The first part of the work involves reducing the overall diameter to fit inside the "Neon" bellhousing.
The second part of the work is removing material to make room for the flex plate starter gear to fit to the back side of the flywheel. I had a fixture made to go into the lathe to accomodate the work that needs to be done. The flywheel bolts to it and then the cuts are made.

I realize its 500 new. At that price I might as well just buy a stage 5 clutch new. I would have obviously bought a low mileage clutch if I was going to do it. But I don't think I will because I don't have equipment to modify it. What are the specs on pt clutch because I don't think it is going to do what I want.
i put the pt cruiser clutch in my r/t and is awesome! no modifications needed to make it fit either
