Lowering Neon 1.5 inchs on Stock Shocks?
Hey Guys,
I just put some 17 inch rims on my 2004 Neon with some 215/40/17 tires. My ride looks kind of high now and I was wondering if I drop it 1.5 inch in the front and back on stock shocks if it would harm the shocks?
Has anybody ever done this on their Neons? I looked into getting some shocks and the Koni stiffness adjustable ones cost around $850 with $250 install and I don't want to spend that much money on shocks.
I was told that it wouldn't hurt my stock shocks since it's only a 1.5 inch drop. As long as I don't drop it over 2 or 3 inchesit should be fine. What do you think?
Let me know. Thanks!

If you lower it more than 1.5" you will need to replace your shocks because that much of a lowering will take its tole on the stock shocks. But just lowering it maybe an 1"-1.5" should be fine for a while, but you will most likely end up needing to buy new shocks. What kind of rim sdid you get? Just wondering?
how well did the rims fit, no rubbing at all? a 1.5 drop will make your struts go out faster. i would just get the tokico suspension that i have. its a 1.4 in drop with tokico hp blues that can handle the drop and it comes with a lifetime warantee and its only 400. wayy cheaper than the koni and ive heard some bad things about koni in the past, and had nothing but a great drop and ride from my tokicos.
i dropped my neon 3 inches and i havent changed my shocks and wen i drive and i hit a bumb. it feels like i have no suspension. ima buy some tokico shocks and my ride should b better.

The rims that I have are the17" RTX Kinetics.
They don't rub against any thing! Which is pretty awesome cause the handling now is much better then the stock rims and tires I had on there before.

If you say so. I have about 3 years/40,000 miles on my stock struts with eibach pro kit. I'm not saying it will be like this for everyone, but as of right now they are holding up just fine and dandy. I would also suggest that it will decrease the life of the stock struts as well. I'm intending on getting a coilover setup in the not so distant future to replace what I have. But I installed mine with the help of my buddy. Took us probably 4-6 hours I'd say. We didn't have any air tools so that made it harder as well. Because you really need an impact wrench to do the job.

You have to buy new struts with a drop like 1.5"... but you can ride on it till you save up the money for new struts
(just remember to replace them is all).

Yea, they will ride fine but the stock struts do wear out quicker.
