Default Breakdown of a Fram oil filter with pictures

Well today I changed the oil on the wifes Buick and took apart the Fram filter to see how it held up, mind you it was WAY over due for an oil change, even though we don't put many miles on the car the length of time it was on was a bit extreme.

Here are the results:

It was replaced with a K&N filter, friggin' expensive too, $15. I put Mopar on the truck, $6 at Wally World

Geeez, man....did you HAVE to do that? Now you know I am goiong to want to go out ancd change filters on all my vehicles and cut the darn filters apart! Let's see, about $100 bucks for filters, and WAY too much for oil!

That thing looks pretty ragged. So the pleats just float around and don't maintain their shape....maybe we'll have others start cutting filters up and posting pics here. May turn ojut pretty interesting.

I'm sure you already have one, but if I'm going to continue inspecting oil filters after their use is up I really need a grinder, the hack saw it just too slow!
