I used to run Mobil1 fully synthetic, then I switched to Royal Purple 10w-30 for a year or two, and now I'm back to Mobil1 fully synthetic. Mobil1 always seemed to work the best for me, tried Royal Purple after reading all the comments on it here, found no change, good or bad, so I went back.

RP is all marketing, that's why it's so expensive, you're paying for a name. The limited tests I've seen show Amsoil/Mobil 1 to prevent more wear..
Switched to Mobil 1 at my last oil change, about 3 weeks ago. I have long used Royal Purple with no problems what so ever. But losing my sponsorship with them kinda forced the switch.
I'm just curious, but what makes Mobil 1 so great. I mean, I keep on hearing that "it works great" but what about it makes it great. exactly how do you know its working. what exactly is it suppose to do and how do you measure it's effectiveness?
