Thumbs up DIY - How to Eliminate a CEL after Removing a Catalytic Converter

This trick has been around for a while. All that is needed is two sets of spark plug non-foulers, available at any auto parts store for about $5 a set.

I did this on my last truck as well as a friends and it worked perfectly. The pics are not mine, they are "borrowed".

Spark Plug Non Fouler as packaged: Purchase the size that matches up to your O2 sensor. The last time I did this, I had the clerk take an O2 sensor for my friend's Chevy out of a box to match up.

You need to increase the hole size in one of the non foulers from each kit to 1/2" using a standard drill bit:

Screwyour O2 sensor into the modified non fouler:

Screw the sensor & modified non fouler into the un-modified non fouler:

This moves the sensor out of the path of the exhaust to where it is cleaner & cooler than in the direct path. The PCM is fooled into thinking the cat is still there, doing it's job and that everything is just fine...
