Probably overdue for an oil change, have a Mopar Filter on there now, curious to see how it held up compared to the last Mopar Filter....

To me I find this a little redundant...

I don't see one bit how the pleats being spread out or clumped together has any effect, oil still has to go through that filter element, The pleats are just there for more surface area filtration.

The juicy stuff would be if that glue that holds the filter in on the ends & seals the unfiltered from the filtered failed then you would have something to say OMG about. I'd say as long as the filter element itself has no rips or tears it held up and did its job.

On a side note, that first Fram filter that kicked off this thread that had all the sludge on the outside is a great sign, that sludge didn't go into your engine!. To me I'd want to see my filter looking like crap, that means its filtering out the junk!.

idk about you, but personally, id prefer to have a filter with metal endcaps instead of cardboard...just my .02 cents.

With all the pics of cut up filters, have we determined the best filter on the market? I'd have to second the notion of the original pics of the fram filter, catching all the sludge. That's reassuring that an engine is running good filtered oil.

You'd rather have sludge in your engine than the filter? that makes zero sense. That sludge is all the crap we're filtering out of the engine!!!!. Our trucks do come equiped with Oil Pressure Sending unit & Pressure Gauge, I think if you see it sucking anything less than 20 psi under normal driving you'd change your filter & oil... So yes you're damn skippy I want that sludge in the filter and NOT in my Engine because that means the filter is doing its job!. I'd also bet your truck that a Fram Filter changed every 3,000 miles would still look relatively new, that first fram that started this thread looks years old like it had been soaking up an oil & water mixture. Oil pressure can easily push through the filter unless its been bombarded by junk or pieces from a blown engine thats about to **** the bed. Heck even if your filter was full of bearing meterial/shavings from your crank it'd still flow great through the filter, but that meterial would clog the block passages more likely than the filter.

I had a Fram Filter on my Neon for 5 years! never once lit an oil light (regarding low pressure), It used oil from PCV scavenging at over 6,500 Rpm so I'd add a quart of new oil every two months or so after beating it hard, that engine is still going strong at 252,000 Miles which is longer than most Oil Filter ****'s will own their engines while babying them with all these magic wand filters & routine oil changes. If you're truely worried about your engine, then don't beat it until its fully warmed up and all the engines metal parts in the rotating assembly like bearings, pistons & rods have had a chance to expand from heat to their in spec ranges, don't blame an oil filter.
