New plug wires for the first time since I've owned the truck. The old ones were very cracked and were showing copper in several places. Last night one melted against the exhaust manifold and started arcing out on it, so it was finally time to replace them. In the process of doing so the oil breather port broke off of the airbox, so I got a new airbox with tube from the local junkyard. They are much newer looking and not as crunchy feeling as the one that spent all its life in texas.
yeah I know, already did.....just never noticed it...it does great when I have the switch to blow out the dash vents.....switch to the floor....nada....defrost only. Trying to figure out part numbers and junk.
^^ I just keep telling myself mine isn't bad enough for me to care.
It only does it under throttle load, so that indicates a vacuum leak if I am correct.
When I have it set to come out the dash vents, under heavy load it will stop and come out the defrost vents. When I let up, I can hear the blend door slam shut and ut starts coming back out the dash. Typical wild vents. I'm trying to find these check valves on rock auto or ebay, but it seems they are dealer ony parts.
Check your vacuum hose first. If the cruise control vacuum hose is leaking, it specifically will cause the wild vents problem... There is a TSB for it... I got the battery tray seal in on this truck but haven't replaced the hose yet.
